Education and practice - A brief bio

My art education began in the 1980s during which time I graduated with a BA(Hons) in Exeter. I took part in several exhibitions throughout and following my study, and was awarded the Emma Jessie Phipps bequest whilst completing my MA Fine Art in Birmingham. I continued my practice in Birmingham, in a large shared studio, and had my first solo show alongside a teaching residency in Leeds.

My practice has naturally evolved over time, and in recent years, I have adopted the human female figure as a vehicle through which to explore emotional wellbeing, largely from my own perspective and experiences.

As my work continues to develop, facets of my neurodivergence, anxiety, introversion and lately menopause, invariably influence my approach and guide my concepts and processes.

Based in North Lincolnshire, and working in my own studio, I am now experimenting with ways of interlinking my love of words and poetry with my sculpture, in an attempt to delve further, and expand the depth of expression in my work, whilst challenging the way I address some of the personal issues associated with the themes I choose to explore.

I continue to show my work, both in galleries across the UK, and online.
